This thing really blows...

This is not my machine, it's my neighbor's. But nonetheless, it has changed my life. Typically it takes at least a day or more to rake the leaves from my backyard in the fall. Today, using this hurricane on wheels, I was able to due my entire backyard in less than twenty minutes. It's not high tech, but it does illustrate there is no substitute for horsepower.

2010 Stang... not impressed

Amidst headlines pronouncing the desperation of Detroit's big three auto makers, today Ford unveiled the redesigned Mustang for 2010.

In other news the word "meh", an expression of indifference, was added to the Collins English dictionary... How appropriate.

Before I lambaste the 2010 steed, I'll mention the two positive comments I can come up with. First, I like the new shape of the re-sculpted pony emblem.

The second new feature I like is the relocated radio antenna, which moved from the front fender to the rear fender.

Now for a couple less than positive comments. The new rearend of the car is heinous. The taillights are ugly and the overall shape is even worse. It's like a Mustang mated with a Ford Probe and this is their unholy spawn. Someone in Ford's marketing department must sense this truth, because there aren't any decent photos of the back of the car.

The interior looks more refined than the current car, but I am left feeling it's a little over done. Like its a Mustang with the interior of a Lincoln MKS. If I wanted granddad's luxoliner I would buy a Lincoln. The popularity of the current Mustang is the nostalgia of the iconic sixties Mustang with the snarling, growling, and ornery attitude to match. This new iteration is loosing sight of what made it successful. I won't be trading in my Stang anytime soon... and if I did it would be for a Challenger, not a 2010 Mustang.

The good news is this new Mustang will help to bring the owners of classic Mustangs and 2005-2008 Mustangs closer together... in their mutual hatred of this revised design.
