Antique ATV

A week or so ago, I was reunited with an old friend - my first ATV - a 1985 Yamaha 80 Moto 4. After getting it home, washing off a thick layer of dust, mud and cow manure, I went to work on reviving the old girl. It had good spark, but the carberator was jammed full of sticky varnish. After a good (but difficult) cleaning, some fresh gas, and reassembly it was ready to go.

It's running well. It's actually faster than I remember. I've replaced the handlebars and fixed one of the tires. Next up some new brakes and new(er) front end components. I'll pick up some of the parts when we visit Maine in a few weeks.

I'd like to find a better set of rear fenders, but not much available for 25 year old plastic on eBay. I'll keep an eye out.

Jurassic ATV

A couple night ride pictures of Gagknee and me after a heavy downpour. Note the lack of goggles. It looks a little like a scene from Jurassic Park.

Incidentally, this year's night ride at VMP is June 6.
