Intown PC

In the process of researching new computers for a possible purchase for the home, I was surprised to find a company located in Richmond, VA... "Velocity Micro"

The name sounds like something the Simpsons would use as satire. But otherwise, Velocity seems to have some good reviews and awards.

Mmmmmm, Microie.... http://www.velocitymicro.com/wizard.php?iid=29

Comments:
ah, yes - one of my favorite fake Simpson companies aof all time is "compu-global-hyper-mega-net"

If you're looking for tech input - that is not in my opinion a very good deal. If you are not looking for input then pretend I didn't mention it.

I would be interested to know what you thought was a good deal. And should I just wait until Vista is released?

Well, for example, I was able to go on Dell's website and configure an almost identical machine for $619 w/free shipping and 1-year in-home service. The differences being that the Dell had a slightly superior processor, but did not have the case with the cool blue lights.

Frankly neither is exactly that I would purchase - but I can't really make any further recommendations without a discussion on what exactly YOU are looking for.

If you think you would want Windows Vista, then you should probably wait - because you'll get it for "free" in a couple of months. If not, then I wouldn't worry about it.

velocity micro's website is down right now (!), but one thing is, if you get a warranty with them, it would be easy to take your machine in for service if you had to.
